Step 1) Update DNS records with your Domain Provider
Contact your domain provider and request the creation of the following A and CNAME records:
- A Record:
- Type = A
- Name/Host = @
- Data/Value = 161.47.102.211
- CNAME Record:
- Type = CNAME
- Name/Host = www
- Data/Value = @ or 161.47.102.211
Example:
We purchased the domain liveedithelp.com from GoDaddy and here is how both the set A and CNAME Records appear. Please note that when we set the CNAME Record, we added @ to the Data field but once saved, the full root domain appeared.
Please Note:
- Make sure only A Record is only set for your root domain (@). If you have mulitple A Records, visitors will not be able to access your website.
- Do not forward your domain to your built-in ".liveeditaurora.com" URL.
- It can take upwards of 24-48 hours for DNS changes to propagate and go into effect.
- We do not require you to change your Name Servers or any other DNS records to go live. Just the above A and CNAME Records.

- Set a CNAME Record - https://www.godaddy.com/help/add-a-cname-record-19236
Step 2) Add the domain to your liveedit website
- Log into your Liveedit website then click on the Account Settings tab located within the liveedit toolbar.
- Click on the Domains tab.
- Under the Add A Domain section, type in your root domain then click Connect.
- Click on the Star () icon next to your root domain so it appears filled in (). This will set the domain as your primary domain.
- Under the Add A Domain section, type in your www subdomain then click Connect.
- Click on the small Edit icon () to the right of the www subdomain and then type in your root domain into the Redirect To field then click Update. This will redirect your www subdomain to your root domain and ensures search engines only index your website under your primary domain.
If you see a checkmark under the DNS column of your domain, it indicates your domain is successfully connected to your website. If you see a question mark, it indicates the A Record of your domain is not pointed over yet.
FAQ
Why do I still see my built-in URL?
Your website includes a built-in URL (example.liveeditaurora.com) that is used by our team to identify your account. When visitors access your website from your connect domain, they will not see your liveedit URL.
Can I still edit my website after going live?
Absolutely! Once your website is live under your domain, you can continue to log in and edit at any time.
Why is my website still not live after updating DNS records?
It can take upwards of 24-48 hours for DNS changes to propagate and go into effect. If it's been longer than 48 hours, please submit a ticket.
Can I connect multiple domains I've purchased?
Yes! Please see our additional guide here: Pointing Multiple Domains to One Website.
What is a Name Server and why is my domain provider requesting one?
Name Servers indicate where your domain is hosted. We do not require you to change this and recommend keeping it with your domain provider.
