What is SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the ranking of a website on search engines. The higher a website ranks, the more likely it is to be seen by potential customers. Several factors affect a website's ranking, including the quality of its content, page structure, and keywords used. By optimizing these factors, websites can improve their ranking and attract more traffic.
Paid vs Organic Traffic
Organic Traffic is unpaid website visits from search engines. People find your site by searching for relevant keywords like "health coach."
Paid Traffic comes from ads you purchase on search engines or other websites. These ads appear in search results or on other pages.
What are SEO Keywords?
An SEO keyword, also known as a search term or keyword phrase, is a word or phrase that describes the content of a web page and is used by search engines to help users find relevant information on the internet.
Search engines like Google and Bing use algorithms to scan web pages and match user search queries with relevant content. These algorithms analyze various factors, including the presence and placement of keywords, to determine the relevance of a web page to a specific search query.
In SEO, keywords are an essential component of on-page optimization. By incorporating relevant keywords into website content, meta tags, and URLs, website owners can improve their website's search engine ranking and visibility for specific search queries.
For example, if you are a health coach, you might want to optimize your website for keywords such as "health coach," "certified health coach," or "nutrition coach." By using these keywords in your website's content, meta tags, and URLs, you can signal to search engines that your website is relevant to these specific search terms and potentially increase your website's visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs).
SEO Titles and Meta Description Tags
When a website page appears in search engine results, an SEO Title and Meta Description will appear below the URL.
Under Pages, you can set an SEO Title and Meta Description for each user-generated page under the SEO tab.
SEO Title
- This content also appears within the Tab of a browser.
- Should be 60 chars or less.
- We recommend the following format: Page Name | Business Name | Location
Meta Description
- A short piece of text that describes the page's content.
- Homepage descriptions can describe your business and all services, while internal pages should specifically describe that page's contents only.
- Should be 156 chars or less.
Please Note:
- Once you change an SEO Title or Meta Description, Google has to reindex the page to see your changes, which commonly happens every few days.
- The Keyword field is no longer used by search engines as a ranking factor. You may still input information, but it likely won’t have any effect on your rankings.
- The SEO Titles and Descriptions for both the Blog and Recipe are automatically generated based on the content of the page.
- Submenu tabs and links do not have the SEO tab.
Content is the key to success:
While SEO Title and Meta Description tags are important and provide some “SEO juice,” the content on the page itself is the most important aspect. Google wants you to be the authority in your field. Your way of proving that authority is by describing it in your content.
Tips:
- Write unique and quality content related to your business, your services, and where you offer those services.
- Have a strong Heading 1 (H1) tag as the title of your page and only use it once per page. Use Heading 2 (H2) and Heading 3 (H3) tags for titles of subsections on the page.
- The more useful content for users to view and search engines to crawl and understand, the better.
- Avoid keyword stuffing and duplicate content.
Image Alt Tags
Alt tags allow you to describe your images to search engines, providing some SEO benefits. It also serves accessibility purposes. You can set alt tags in both our Image and Text Elements. Please do not keyword stuff alt tags, as it’s better to describe them naturally. Simply describe the contents of the image. Please note that alt tags can not be added to images add as a background to a content area.
